Lick of Salt

The Lick of Salt is a river in the northeast Siccus Badlands. It rises high in the northern Rakath Mountains, and ends in the Salt Lake in the middle of the Parched Lands desert. It is navigable (barely) from the Oil Road east of Petraea to the Qarkyr-Cedrica Road at the edge of the Rakath mountains. Above the Qarkyr-Cedrica Road, the currents are too strong and wild, with many rapids. As it descends through the deserts, it flows through some of the largest canyons in Historica. The river slowly dwindles away, until by the Oil Road it is a mere shallow, sluggish creek. Below the Oil Road, it is dry during the summers, and even in the winter, only a salty trickle reaches the Salt Lake.
